The Passing of Bijou

"Ma'mselle" has passed away.

Miss Bijou had one orange toe - I saw it first thing at the SPCA the day she adopted me and knew immediately that her name wasn't "Sandy," as was on her cage, but Bijou, like the little jewel on her paw!

We lived alone together for about a year in a basement apartment in NDG. She had one window to look out! When it snowed, the window was half filled with snow - so unfair!

Her life improved dramatically when we moved in with Andre.

Then we moved back to Homer street. At the time, Liam's two cats ruled the roost, and Miss Bijou was quite disconcerted. It was the beginning of February, and the enterprising little thing walked home to Panama street in Brossard! Andre found her when he went back to pack some more things! When we brought her back that day, she knew she was stuck here.

But life quickly got better. Liam took his kitties away, and she was again queen of all she surveyed!

Perhaps the most quintessential photo of her ever - lying on her kneeling pad in the garden, soaking up the sunshine.

She loved to sleep on Sean's heating pad, and would climb on his chest during the news in the evenings, right before climbing on Andre.

She was queen of the street - the minute she came outside, all other cats would scatter. A Holy Terror!

Farewell darling Bijou, as you cross the rainbow bridge. Say hi to all the other kitties for me.
